My husband and I have been talking about opening an antique booth in an antique mall for a few years now. We always thought it would be a fun little venture to do together, and maybe even a small way to make some extra cash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We figured this idea was still a few years down the road, but a couple of weeks ago, an opportunity came up that we just could not pass up. Suddenly, we were scrambling to get everything ready. Over the next two weeks, we cataloged our inventory, researched and priced items, and started finding pieces we could use to display everything in the booth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We had inventory in Florida that needed to be brought up to North Carolina, and inventory already in North Carolina that still needed to be cataloged and priced once we arrived. It was a lot of work, especially after we got to NC on Friday, but it was also so much fun watching the booth slowly come together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the things that appealed to us most about having an antique booth is that we do not have to manage a full storefront. We can restock when we need to, keep the booth looking nice, and make sure it stays clean and inviting. Plus, part of the fun is continuing to treasure hunt for good deals that we can add to the booth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you are trying to open your own antique booth for the first time, make sure you do your research. I was lucky enough to chat with the folks who run the mall, and they gave me one really helpful piece of advice:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTry to spend as little as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My husband and I had definitely been overthinking the whole process, so it was a relief to realize we did not need to make it complicated. We just needed to keep things simple. In total, I believe we spent about $50 on supplies to get started. Thrift wherever you can, especially when it comes to bookcases, tables, baskets, or anything else you can use to display your inventory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
