Turn Meal Planning into Family Quality Time

Well, today my mom and I tackled a large task. We sat down and decided to do some meal planning for the next few weeks and based on that plan we went grocery shopping and bought accordingly.

What prompted this was not just the idea that we need to lose weight but because we need to eat better overall. We now have two diabetics in the house and one needs to eat gluten-free due to a digestive issue. So we are cutting back on those carbs and even incorporating some carb-free meals a couple of times a week.

This will be beneficial for us because not are we promoting self-care in the household and helping to regulate blood sugar levels but it will also have the added benefit of shedding a few pounds and hopefully getting to a healthy weight.

But the best part of this was spending some time this morning with my mom going through our cookbooks for recipes and then going out and shopping for the groceries, maybe this will be something we turn into a monthly or bi-monthly routine.

The funny thing is I wasn’t planning on leaving the house today but spending some time meal planning with her this morning put me in the mood to go get the grocery shopping done so we could start eating healthier today.
