Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to get through this thing called Life…

Today I am going to talk about one of the Things that has made me happy over the years and that is Prince.

Today marks 5 years since Prince’s death and I feel his music still makes a big impact in our household. I always knew my husband was a massive Prince fan, he always felt that Prince taught much about Life, Spirituality and most of all Women. More specifically respecting and loving women.

I of course have also always known about Prince but had been only exposed to what had been typically his greatest hits. So on the day of his passing before my husband had arrived home from work I created a little memorial which included a Bluetooth speaker playing Prince music.

Afterwards my husband started introducing me to most of his discography which included songs I had never listened to in my life like Starfish and Coffee which is now my all time favorite Prince song. Some others I have grown to love is Thieves in the Temple, 7, and 3 Chains of Gold.

He also played the song Colonized Mind which is amazing except I ruined it for my husband, every time Prince sang the lyric Download all I heard was Rob Lowe and now he can’t unhear it. >:-)

When they opened up Paisley Park to the public my husband and I made a pilgrimage to the Holy Place of Funk to celebrate his life and to pay our respects to one of the most talented musical artist to ever live. We even got to record in one of his music studios and even got to hang out one night with one of his siblings. It really was such an amazing trip.

My husband recently took part in a live panel discussion talking about Prince and his amazing career. Check out at the link below.
