20 years ago today I was getting to go on an amazing adventure of magic, quests, and wizards.
Since I was a child I was always fascinated by the stories of J. R. R. Tolkien and grew up watching the Rankin Bass animated films. To this day I still remember the song Frodo of the 9 fingers and the Ring of Doom. I remember reading The Hobbit as a child but always found it difficult to read the Lord of the Rings series.
Once I was in my early teens I decided to revisit the Lord of the Rings and found an amazing world of Hobbits, Elves, and Orcs. My love and passion for everything in the Middle Earth world just grew and grew.
Many years later when it was announced that the Fellowship of the Ring live-action film directed by Peter Jackson was going to be released I was on pins and needles with anticipation for this release. I ate up every bit of news that I could get my hands on. One of my favorite pieces of news was knowing that all the films were films back to back because it guaranteed that no matter what all the films would be released.
Not only did The Fellowship of the Ring blow my mind with the amazing cinematography, sensational soundtrack, and amazing acting but it just opened up my imagination as no film series has ever done before or since.
I love the Star Wars Franchise and also the Indiana Jones films but for me, the Lord of the Rings will always be my number one all-time favorite trilogy.
To this day I still regularly read the books, watch all the films at least once a year if not more and I am now at year 14 of playing the Lord of the Rings Online video game. I remember the year the game was released and I was lucky enough to be chosen to be part of a late beta testing several months before the game launched. To this day I am still discovering new things about the game.
This year I also finally realized the dream of cosplaying Lady Galadriel from the Hobbit film, one of these days I’m also hoping to cosplay her outfit from the Fellowship of the Ring.
Also one of the things on my Bucket List is to visit New Zealand and visit the Shire and all the other places that the movies were filmed.
Thank you Peter Jackson for taking us on such an amazing adventure, you brought Middle Earth to life and I applaud you. I could never have imagined anyone ever doing the books justice but you.
