The Quest to Visit a Galaxy Far Far Away

During our North Carolina trip we took our new Vespera telescope with us, at this point we had used it only once so we can figure out how to use the app and do a quick viewing of the moon. We hoped that being up at a much higher elevation in an area with less light pollution that our first real viewing of something really far away would amaze us.

The long wait for this telescope and then the wait for this trip did not disappoint. The Inn at the Biltmore Estate sits on top of a tall hill with many grassy knolls that offer an obstructed view of the sky and the knolls are far enough away that we had little worry about light pollution coming from the hotel.

We decided on an ambitious first viewing of the Andromeda Galaxy, we did an exposure for 30 minutes and stacked about 180 photos.

Here is a side-by-side comparison of 1 photo vs stacked with 180.

I am really looking forward to seeing what else we can view through the telescope.

The only draw back to this telescope is although you can see planets it is not really designed to see things that are within our own Solar System. So while I love the Vespera I will also be researching and looking for a telescope camera for planet viewing as well.
