Quest to Build Our Cottage in the Mountains…

Last year I posted about how we secured some land in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina and how we are one step closer to fulfilling our dream of retiring there.

Our next steps will be to continue with the quest for financial freedom and save funds. We already spent the last year looking at different builders and many different house plans and we finally came across the plans that spoke to us and did not make us feel like we were settling while also being reasonable.

Truth is the original house plans we had wanted would never have worked because it does not fit with the mountain community style, to large for just 2 people, and also not cost effective. All we want for our retirement home is something modest and cozy but also had design elements that we both love.

It all came down to a picture in my head of my feet wrapped in fuzzy socks, one hand holding a cup of hot chocolate and the other reading a book as I look out a window to the sight of some gently falling snow. All I dream about is to make this vision a reality.

With all that said I wanted to share the possible home we may build for our retirement, it is smaller then our current home and more modest but it speaks to the both of us and it has that cozy feeling we have been searching for. Sorry the below picture looks a little weird, I made some adjustments to the original using photoshop.
