The Quest to Remember How Far We Have Come With Our Home

My mom gave me an idea for a blog series, we have lived in our home for over 15 years, it was our first home back in 2006 and it would be neat to revisit all the changes we have made over the years. All these changes brought me happiness and joy.

It took me many years before we decided to finally put our own personality into the house. It started with converting the front living room into a home theater, then the den was turned into a small library. I then redecorated the master bedroom in a Disney Haunted Mansion theme.

For a little while, we even had our own Tardis until we no longer had room for it, although the Tardis parts are still on display. We even added almost 400 square feet of living space to the house and now I’m close to wrapping up just another room in the house.

Little by little and slowly we have been transforming our home into a place that makes us feel cozy, happy, and relaxed while also being inspired by our surroundings.

So in the next few weeks, I’ll be mixing in some before and after posts on projects we completed in the house, it will be nice to revisit some of these projects that were completed over a decade ago, I’ll probably even discover new ways to improve completed projects.

So to start this Before and After series, I’ll start with the house itself. After many many months of searching for a home in 2006 we finally settled on a pre-construction option, we wanted something brand new and not inherit someone else’s problems.

Although it was a very stressful time it was also one of the happiest times in our lives when our home was completed and we closed on our first and so far only home. Many people buy homes and then sell their homes, not for us. Although at a later date we may invest in another second home we will always keep this one. It is our first and very much loved home.
