Today I did something out of my comfort zone, for those who know me well, I don’t really wear any makeup or have any kind of skincare regime. Not on a regular basis anyway.
The last time I wore makeup was at a Sci-fi convention last year because not wearing makeup would have made me look like a frump in the pretty costumes I was wearing. Before then I could not recall when was the last time I wore makeup, most of the makeup I had expired a long time ago.
Apparently, most makeup, especially the liquid kind expires after about 6 months, and here I was using a foundation that I can’t even remember buying, no wonder it would irritate my skin.
But it’s not about just the makeup it’s also about skincare, I know skincare is important and not just because it will help my makeup look nicer but because it will be better for my skin.
This is just another way for me to promote my self-care. I know that taking care of my skin, and occasionally wearing some makeup will improve my self-esteem and make me feel more comfortable in my own skin.
It’s never been about what others think of me, I am not a vain person. It’s all about how I think about myself and how I feel about myself. I’ve worked so hard on my mental health, I am still working on my physical health but I will also work on my self-esteem, and take more pride in myself.
