Ever since our final voyage aboard the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser in September 2023, the experience has stayed with me in a powerful way. I’m constantly looking for ways to revisit those memories, whether by recreating props, displaying mementos, or crafting small pieces of that galaxy far, far away.
For my latest project, I decided to bring to life a prop that has always fascinated me: the alien flower displayed in the kitchen area of the Halcyon’s Galaxy Suite. We never had the chance to stay in one of those suites (or the Captain’s Suite, which also features the flower), but after seeing countless photos, I knew I wanted one in my own home.
With the help of a talented 3D modeler and a stack of reference images, I 3D-printed the flower and its container, then added some personal touches to make it even more lifelike.
I plan on exhibiting at Halcy-Con this year if you want to see it in person.
Project Details:
- The flower was 3D printed on my Bambu X1C
- I used dual colored PLA for the flower
- Smaller details were painted in with acrylic paint
- I utilized DIY components from Light My Bricks to light the flowers
- Added a touch of actual Spanish moss for some realism.
I have a few other projects that are either in progress or in the planning stages.
