The Quest to Visit a Galaxy Far Far Away

The task that I’ve been trying to complete the last couple of days was completed today but not by me. My best friend was the one who lucked out and got us all a reservation for the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser.

Why does this make me so happy?

It’s not every day that we are given the opportunity to live out one of our geek fantasies, and as soon as Disney announced the plans for a fully immersive experience in the Star Wars universe we knew we had to be one of the first to try it. So of course we planned to do it together with friends so we can hopefully keep costs down.

We were able to score one of the coveted reservations and we even booked it close to May the 4th so we can really celebrate all things Star Wars.

I’m pretty sure as geeks we all daydream about what it would be like to experience our favorite fandoms. I think about the Holodeck on the enterprise and asked myself what would be the first thing I would do if technology like that ever existed and without thinking about it the first thought that entered my head is I would love to visit Middle Earth but Star Wars is a close second.

And now thanks to Disney we will have an opportunity to see what it feels like to fly into outer space, to be part of the rebel alliance, and feel like we are living in the Star Wars universe even if it’s just for a few days. Yes it’s expensive and yes I’ll probably be selling a kidney but we feel as massive Star Wars nerds we need to try this at least once.

The truth is we fully understand that Disney is a big corporation whose sole purpose is to make money but no one can deny that Disney knows how to make the magic come to life. When Galaxy’s Edge first opened up in Hollywood studios I knew it would be amazing and the first time we went I felt like we were in another world.

One of my favorite books/films is Ready Player One, I dream that one day the technology described in Ready Player One will become a reality so we can all visit our favorite worlds, I want to attend class at Hogwarts, visit Rivendell, and travel through the stars.

Escaping is something we all need to do, it helps us to get out of our heads and help us to take a break from our everyday lives. I am always ready for an escape, especially if it’s with my husband. All we need to do is sit back and enjoy what life throws at us. Immerse yourself in the things you love, pretend you are somewhere else. Make your life magical and magic will happen.
