The Quest to Find Creative Inspiration

I have tons of art and craft supplies, and a very long queue of online art courses and kits to complete.

But why can’t I seem to find the motivation to actually be creative?

For the last few weeks I have been hovering between playing video games, reading, and doing things around the house but I cannot seem to get myself motivated to create art. As usual, my list of art projects grows but at the moment I can’t seem to start any of them. After a quick Google search, I came across a few articles that talk about how to find my artistic inspiration.

The biggest thing I found to rekindle art creativity is to prepare your creative space.

I can get behind this because I understand this, I try to keep my workspace clean and tidy because a part of me finds joy in a clean workspace but this also has an added effect that a lot of my supplies are put away and not ready for immediate use.

I think part of what ends up happening is the thought of having to dig out all my supplies and get my space ready for art sometimes feels daunting and too much work. In some cases, by the time I do get my space ready, I no longer feel motivated to do the art I wanted to do in the first place. It honestly does feel frustrating at times.

Reading the following article had me thinking of the way I currently have my creative space set up:

I believe that I need to get off my high horse in regard to my clean and tidy workspace and maybe ensure that my supplies are a little more accessible and ready for use when inspiration strikes. Just because my supplies are more accessible does not mean that my area has to be a mess and a place of chaos.

Today I plan on pulling out some of my supplies, I want them to be within reach and ready to use instead of stuffed away out of sight. Whether it’s one of my many art kits or just my general art supplies, I need my supplies a little more accessible and within view to give me well-needed inspiration.

And of course, I need to find out how to do this without encroaching on my husband’s space with still trying to keep my area tidy and not chaotic.

Wish me luck and I will post again with the results.
