May the Fourth Be with You…

This is one of my favorite days of the year, I can let me geek flag fly.

Star Wars has always been a huge part of my life even though I never got to see the original trilogy in theaters. It is one of the things that always makes me happy.

My first real experience with Star Wars in theaters was when Star Wars The Phantom menace released in 1999, even though there are a lot of people that don’t like Episode 1 – 3 this was still my first full-on Star Wars experience where I got to enjoy all the hype building up to the movie. And it was these films that revitalized and brought the Star Wars franchise back to life and gave us such amazing series like Star Wars the Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels which to this day is still my favorite of the animated series.

With all that said I will admit that I do have a serious gap in my Star Wars lore, I never read any of the novelizations. A gap I do hope to close soon.

Before Disney bought out the Star Wars Franchise my only taste of it was Star Tours at Hollywood Studios and during the Star Wars Weekends in May. Attending Science Fiction conventions was also another way for me to get my Star Wars fix, I always had my squee moments when I would see remote control R2 D2 droids and seeing Storm Troopers walking by. For years I would walk by the Ultra sabers booth at Dragon Con dreaming about owning one someday.

I guess a part of me has always wanted to be a Jedi, not just because it’s cool but because the idea of being one with the universe was always so appealing to me. Several years ago I finally completed my quest to become a Jedi and obtained my first ever lightsaber from Ultra Saber.

After Disney purchased Lucas Films they have only fueled my love for Star Wars.

They released new movies and continued with various series and while I enjoyed attending Star Wars Weekends at Disney Hollywood studio I was so excited when they announced a whole new Star Wars land, I eagerly absorbed every bit of news that came out about Galaxy’s Edge and even got to enjoy a pass holder preview event in 2019 before they opened to the public.

Every time I walk into Galaxy’s Edge I feel like Han Solo in Force Awakens when he first steps onto the Millennium Falcon. I honestly feel at home there. Back in 2019 I even did the build your own lightsaber experience and for me, it was almost a spiritual moment. I even cried because of how happy I was.

Thankfully my husband documented the entire thing for me.

It really was one of the best days ever as and it was also the day we rode Rise of the Resistance for the 1st time.

And there are still so many things to look forward to! The new Starcruiser hotel opens next year and they are teasing a REAL Lightsaber, I hope they will tell us more about it soon. Also, a new series started today, Star Wars The Bad Batch.
