The Quest for the Jedi Weapon…and Finding the Force Within Us

Last night my husband and I watched a Star Wars documentary on Disney + called Empire of Dreams the Story of the Star Wars Trilogy, at the beginning of the film they talked about how George Lucas did a lot of research into the history legends, myths, and religion in order to help him build the Star Wars universe.

Quote from Starwarsfandom.com

George Lucas, the writer of the original and the prequel trilogies, said that, in regards to his Star Wars films and religion, the core teaching to pass on is that all religions in the real world essentially says one thing: compassion, or love. The Force and the Jedi religion, Lucas stated, were thus based on all religions in the real-world, as he constructed Star Wars mainly from Methodism—or ChristianityIslam, and Judaism—and Buddhism

So is it any surprise that as a spiritual person I feel drawn to Star Wars and most specifically the ways of the Force? I think of the Force as my own sense of positive thinking and motivation. I’m not saying that I can move things with my mind but it’s really amazing how your overall outlook in life can change when you train yourself to think more positively.

I was hoping to post this in my blog yesterday but unfortunately I had some issues uploading the video.

Some days you feel like everything fell into place, but what if it’s more than that. If you go into a day feeling negative thoughts then you tend to have a bad day, or at least you think you are having a bad day. But if you go into your day with the belief that everything will be great it’s amazing how all of a sudden it feels like you are having a great day.

Christianity teaches us to be kind to others, to show compassion and love. The Jedi religion is no different. I strongly believe that in the end, all world religions have those things in common. They all believe in the power of one being or God (The Force) and having respect for all living things. For me, my spirituality is whatever I make of it. I find peace and happiness in thinking about the Jedi Religion. Thanks to Lucas there is some truth and real-world legends in his mythology that I believe we can all relate to on some level.

My spirituality revolves around being kind to myself and being kind to others, it’s about paying it forward and also reveling in everything that is given to us in nature and the universe. I am always in awe of our universe and the beauty that exists in the vastness of space. Enjoying the beauty of our own planet, not just the beauty that exists naturally but the beauty created by those with a creative mind.

At the end of the day we exist in a way that makes sense to us, whether it’s Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, or a Flying Spaghetti Monster, for me it’s a mix of Christianity and the Force.

How do you define your spirituality? If you define it at all.
