The Quest to Feel the Christmas Spirit

The Holiday season is always a time for family and love. A time to enjoy the fun festivities and the Christmas decoration. A Time to celebrate the birth of Christ.

I have always found that not every Christmas feels the same, some feel chaotic, while other feel rushed, others just seem to lack the Christmas spirit altogether while others feel like they will never get here soon enough. Some Christmases are sad while others feel amazing. I even had one Christmas a few years ago where I did not find any Christmas spirit at all and I never even watched one Christmas movie.

This year feels a little different, maybe it’s because I have been focusing on having a more positive mindset all year and overall I feel much happier. It might be because in November I decided to have my Christmas shopping done and wrapped before Thanksgiving so I could just focus on the Holiday and not deal with the chaos. We need to remember that it’s honestly not about the presents. I know that for those with kids it may feel that way though. This year my focus on presents has been last on the list of priorities but first on my to-do list so I could get it out of the way.

Instead, I have been trying to focus on the things I know bring me joy during Christmas like spending time with my family and friends, baking some of my favorite treats, watching my favorite Christmas movies, enjoying the glow of the Christmas lights that decorate our house, my Happy Christmas tree.

I’ve been taking time to enjoy some of my craft projects and not worry about deadlines. I’m even looking forward to my Lord of the Rings Online Yule Festival which starts tomorrow.

This year I just feel really relaxed as we come into December, I am looking forward to just having a laid-back Holiday where we don’t have too many plans or obligations. I want to spend most of my time in my cozy Christmas pants and fuzzy Christmas socks watching Holiday films or playing my video game and just spending time with my family. I want to have some eggnog with coconut rum, and maybe enjoy a nice glass of wine in the library while we listen to some holiday music.

It’s time to start making my homemade hot cocoa or enjoying a nice hot pot of tea with cookies. I’m even looking forward to trays of cheeses with meats and crackers. This year will be the year I do all the things that bring me joy.

I’m hoping that as I continue my quest to keep my positive mindset I will come into the new year feeling very happy and ready to take on whatever 2022 brings.
