So as a geek girl I do play video games, for many many years, my favorite games to play were Final Fantasy, Xenosaga, and Legend of Dragoon. I have also played MMORPG’s (Massively multiplayer online role-playing game) Like Final Fantasy 11, Star Trek Online and for the past 13 years, I have also been playing Lord of The Rings Online (LOTRO).
I read the Tolkien books as a teenager and was always fascinated with the world that Tolkien built. If asked if I could choose one fantasy world to visit and actually go there for me it would be Middle Earth. Yes, I would also love to visit Hogwarts or travel in the Tardis but Middle Earth holds a special place in my heart.
So when 13 years ago I heard about the LOTRO game I knew I would want to become a part of this and be able to immerse myself in the story. I was also blessed though I joined a little late to be part of the Beta testing. It meant I could become an elf and see my favorite characters as they too went through their journey I also went through mine. I’ve gone through several characters never really getting past a certain point but now after 13 years I finally found my stride with this game and I’m also using it as a tool to help me relax. The game has changed over the years and has made it easier for those who like to solo play.
But at the same time, I have discovered friendships through the fellowships I have joined in the game and I know that there would be times when friends are needed.
This weekend went particular well as I was able to participate in raids with my kinship. It not only made me feel happy to be playing but to also be a contributing member of the group.
