So the challenge that I took upon myself on June 1st has been accomplished, I honestly didn’t think it would happen this fast but it did.
Yesterday my husband and I spent the day visiting local thrift shops and antique shops for the item I wanted. As the day progressed and we kept striking out I was very proud of myself for not getting frustrated. You see I had a plan B, I told my hubby about Plan B and was totally on board with Plan B.
So we went about our day in the knowledge that Plan B will save the day, well once we got home we had a good laugh when we realize that Plan B was a full-on dud. But that’s ok we were not bothered by it or frustrated. Since finding the item I wanted would be difficult to acquire in a shop we turned to the interwebs.
I knew finding exactly what I wanted at the price point I wanted would not be easy but together and with patience we found exactly what I was looking for and for the perfect price.
Even though my challenge was over in a matter of days I felt like I did not let myself get frustrated or obsessed over it. I will continue to deal with things in my life that I am sure will test my patience but I know that just like everything else I need to be more mindful about it and not let it overwhelm me.
On to the Funny story, the Item I wanted was an antique wooden card catalog for our library so I can have a physical inventory of all ours antique books. Card catalogs are not only getting hard to find but they are also getting very expensive as they are apparently in high demand as a home decor item.
Plan B was to pick something up I found on amazon, I honestly thought it was an actual wooden box with a metal handle in the front and cards inside that are meant to be for a card catalog, turns out the box was not wooden but cardboard, with a print to make it look like wood and the cards were just blank note cards. Not exactly what I was looking for. We had actually believed we found an awesome solution to what we wanted only to have that moment where we realize this product is not as described, thankfully we never actually ordered one.
What we did do was manage to find an actually 1920’s vintage wooden card catalog on Etsy.
Here is the Card Catalog we found.
And Here is the fake card catalog
